Biography

Richard has practiced law continuously at Emery Jamieson LLP since his admission to the Alberta Bar in 1970. Richard's practice includes:

  • Litigation of disputes involving commercial matters, insurance, professional negligence, administrative law, construction law and employment law matters and claims;
  • Insurance law, including disability and employee benefits, CGI and Errors and Omissions coverages;
  • Employee benefits law, including design of employee benefit schemes and plans;
  • Commerical law, including contract analysis, assessment and litigation of commercial and contractual claims;
  • Employment law, including employment and wrongful termination litigation.

Richard is involved in many community and professional activities, including acting as President of the Canadian Mental Health Association (Alberta Division) and as Vice-Chair of the City of Edmonton's Safer Cities Initiatives Advisory Committee. Additionally, Richard has taught at the Bar Admission Course and at various continuing legal education seminars and presentations.

Richard is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association. He is also an associate member of the American Bar Association and is a member of the Defense Research Institute.
