Biography
Terry's practice is devoted primarily to patent prosecution. He also practices in other areas of intellectual property law including licensing, trade-mark prosecution, copyright, and industrial design protection.
Terry has extensive experience in obtaining patents in the resource industries including oil and gas exploration, drilling and production, oil sand extraction and processing, heavy oil upgrading, coal processing and forestry. He also has experience in obtaining patents for inventions related to electrical engineering and biotechnology.
Terry is experienced in drafting and negotiating agreements pertaining to research and development and licensing, and he has engineering related work experience in surveying, materials engineering and construction.
Terry has spoken to various professional associations as well as community and interest groups on various topics of intellectual property law. He taught the patents and industrial design portions of the Intellectual Property Law course at the University of Alberta from 1993 to 1995.
Terry Kuharchuk is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Alberta and the Licensing Executives Society. He is also a member of APEGGA, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and an Associate member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada.
