Biography

 Hugh Willis articled and practiced at a large Edmonton firm prior to joining Emery Jamieson LLP in the summer of 2010. 

 

Hugh’s practice includes Corporate Commercial, Immigration, Condominium, and Privacy law.  His experience includes acting for a variety of corporate clients, including both large and small business and not-for-profits.   Hugh prides himself on providing efficient and practical advice to assist his clients. 

 

Hugh is actively involved in the legal community and participates with the Canadian Bar Association and Edmonton Community Legal Center amongst others.  He has presented a number of seminars and published articles on condominium law issues for the Canadian Condominium Institute, North Alberta.  He has presented on immigration issues for the Edmonton Community Legal Center.  Hugh has presented on privacy issues as they affect employers for Lorman seminars on two occasions as well as having presented on Privacy law for the Canadian Bar Association, North Alberta Chapter for the Research Lawyer section.

 

He is a past co-Chair for the Canadian Condominium Institute for Northern Alberta as well as participating on the Executive of the Privacy Law section for the Canadian Bar Association for Northern Alberta. 

 

Hugh has appearances before the Alberta Court of Appeal, the Court of Queen’s Bench, the Provincial Court of Alberta, the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Immigration Appeal Division. 

 

Outside of practice Hugh enjoys the outdoors, golf, and spending time with his family.
