Claire's practice is focused to the area of family law. She provides assistance to married people in the resolution of divorce issues including custody and access matters, issues relating to child and spousal support, and division of property. As the same issues may arise between unmarried people who separate after cohabitation, the provision of legal advice and the resolution of legal issues between cohabiting partners is also a large part of her practice. Emerging issues arising in family law such as grandparents' rights and the legal rights and obligations in same-sex relationships are additional issues that Claire has resolved for her clients.
As a result of her background as a clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada and her appearances on behalf of interveners at the Supreme Court on issues arising under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, she also has significant experience in constitutional litigation.
